1)Which documents do I need to enter the Dominican Republic?
If you are an American citizen, after January the 1rst 2007, you will need a valid passport and a tourist card that can be purchased at any airport in the Dominican Republic for a cost of US$10.00. Before January the 1rst 2007, you can travel with an ID and a Birth Certificate (both documents are required.
If you are a Green Card holder you will need your Green Card and a tourist card. Please, Contact the consulate for exceptions.
2)Are there any requirements to travel with minors to the Dominican Republic?
If the minor is traveling with one or both of his/her parents no extra documentation will be required.
If the minor is traveling with a person that is not their father, mother or tutor, they will have to leave the country with the same person they enter it.
If they are leaving the country with a different person the authorities of the General Migration Office will require a legalized authorization letter signed by both parents.

3)Is a visa required for an American citizen to enter the Dominican Republic?
No. A visa is not required for the American citizens to enter the Dominican Republic. They just need to purchase a tourist card at their arrival in any airport of the Dominican Republic for a cost of US$10.00.
4)Is a visa required for non US citizens?
There are many countries waived of visa requirements for its citizens to enter the Dominican Republic. Please, see "consular general information" section for more details.
5)How can I obtain a Visa for the Dominican Republic?
You can apply at the nearest Dominican Consulate. Please, see "visa section" for more information.
6)How long does it take to get a visa?
The waiting period will depend on the type of visa requested. For tourist, business and student visas it takes approximately two weeks. For residence visas it usually takes one month.
Please note that this waiting period may vary according to individual circumstances, please contact the nearest consulate for more information. The Consulate is not responsible for plane tickets and tourist packages bought before obtaining the visa with enough time or before obtaining the tickets.

Tourist visas: US$65.00
Business visas: one entry- US$95.00 / Multiple entries -US$95.00
Student visas (one year/ multiple entries): US$85.00
Residence Visa: US$95.00
8)How much is the fee to renovate my passport?
6 years renovation: US$60.00
9)Which forms of payments does the Consulate accept?
The Consulate accepts cash, company check and money orders.

11)How do I get married in the Dominican Republic?
If you are not a Dominican citizen and want to get married in the Dominican Republic you will need the following documentation:
A legalized birth certificate. You can get this document legalized at your nearest Dominican Consulate for a cost of US$50.00. This legalization takes 2 to 3 business days.
A notarized and legalized Declaration of Single Status. If you are getting married for the first time you will need to write a "Declaration of Single Status" and, after notarizing it, get it legalized at your nearest Dominican Consulate for a cost of US$100.00.
Legalized Divorce Degree (If you have been married before). If you have been married before, you will need to present legalized Divorce Degree. You can legalize this document at your nearest Dominican Consulate
If you are sending the documentation by mail you will need to send a prepaid envelop in order for the Consulate to send the document back. We do not accept personal checks.
12)What type of documents can I have legalized at the Consulate?
Our Consular Section legalizes personal documents (birth certificates, marriage certificate, death certificate, divorce degrees, etc.), business documents and educational institution documents.
13)How can I legalize a document at a Dominican Consulate?
You can bring or mail the document (with return envelope included) to your nearest Dominican Consulate. Legalization can be provided in either Spanish or English.
14)What is the fee for legalizations?
Personal legalizations US$70.00

Educational Institutions Legalizations US$50.00
15)What do I need to give someone in the Dominican Republic a power of attorney?
You will need to go to your nearest Dominican Consulate and present your ID or passport and the name, passport or identification card number of the person you are giving the power of attorney. See "other consular services" for more information.
16)What do I need to travel with my pet?
You need a legalized health certificate of the animal from your local veterinary. You can do this at your nearest Consulate for a cost of US$60.00. This legalization takes 1 to 2 business days.
